How to Clean a Chandelier

However, it is also the typical fixture that is neglected when it comes to cleaning. Many homeowners resist on cleaning chandeliers because of its complexity, unless it is really important.
Over the time, the chandelier will surely be coated with cobwebs and dust, it would be great to clean them long before that special holiday or occasion comes so that will not be hurry, which may cause you to drop the crystals and damage them. The following are some of the effective tips on how to clean a chandelier:
There are two options that you may choose when cleaning your chandelier. Your choice pertains on the technique that you may use to clean the fixture. One technique is to wet clean and the other one is dry clean. If you have ornate chandelier you may try to wet clean them.
Follow the manufacturer’s suggestion
If you have an exceptionally fine chandelier, you may contact the nearest lighting center or the manufacturer of the chandelier for you to know the right information on how to clean it effectively. If you are unsure you may contact a lighting professional. However, most people recommend individual hand cleaning or spray cleaner. If you have issues, whether dry or wet cleaning, the cleaning of the fixture is the best option.
Safety first
· Switch off the electricity from the breaker box.
· Organize a lighting that is not connected to the chandelier’s breaker switch.
· Reposition the table.
· Get a tall ladder for you to make your cleaning easy.
· Put a piece of plastic to catch any drops.
· Put a double-folded, soft and washable blanket, if crystals fall.
To dry clean a chandelier
· For dry cleaning the chandelier, you need to prepare two clean cloths. One is for cleaning and the other one is for polishing. Microfiber cleaning cloths are ideal because they can effectively clean and polish the chandelier compare to plain cloth.
· Spray the first cloth with ample amount of cleaner just to make it a bit damp. The next thing to do is to wipe each crystal using a damp cloth. Then use the clean and dry cloth to polish and dry the crystals.
· It is considered as time-consuming and tedious activity but you need to make sure that there’s no liquid into the chandeliers electrical wiring. That is why, it is very important to polish every crystal.
To wet clean a chandelier
· Cover every bulbs with a small plastic or sandwich bags and locked it using rubber band
· You can also use special chandelier cleaner or simply by using ammonia, but make sure to be very cautious when using ammonia.
· Meticulously spray the cleaner into the chandelier and let the cleaner to seep off.
· Then wipe the crystal individually
